Can we be happy for the Gulf coast?
There are thousands and thousands of people now employed by BP that were previously unemployed in the Gulf states. These hundreds of thousands of blue collar workers of the Gulf states have been hurt by a down housing market for 2 years, and hurt further as long term unemployment compensation has been voted down by Congress. In addition, all those who had businesses inconvenienced by BP will be paid their salaries without having to work for it! This is a net win for the Gulf states! Imagine getting your year's salary, getting all your bills paid while sitting at home, working as a drop shipper as an eBay store! Our greedy companies in the U.S. would have been petitioning to be bailed out by taxpayers. They could learn from BP's generosity and responsibility. Maybe now we can learn to accept the recent european-styled cap and trade legislation and mild world taxation. After all, the United States is far richer than other countries. Other countries should be equal to the U.S. economically as this would only be fair. Your thoughts?
