I am mentally retarded and am looking for life and career advice, no trolls or flamers please?
If you really love college then maybe you should go to the deaf college with your friends? Debt isn't that bad, it's kind of like a cold swimming pool. At first it's terrifying, but once you get in it you tend to get used to it. Then again, I don't have the same problems you have so if I was in your shoes I might be hesitant to go into debt just like you are. Have you considered a cheap, fast, training program with minimal investment of time and resources? I just got my EKG certificate so I can work as an EKG technician. Only one semester, one hour a week. You might consider a brief program like that and with a credential there would be less pressure at an interview because you have a marketable skill. Also, I would suggest you try using your disadvantages to your advantage. Meaning, there are government programs you can apply for being challenged and they can help you find a training program and job that is right for you. If they like your test scores and application, they may even provide training costs. 'The Department of Rehabilitation' is a good source. Another benefit to having a disability, is nature's way of making up for short comings with other strengths. While your speaking and communication lack, your writing is excellent. You may have other abnormal strengths you didn't notice which are a result of your developmental disabilities. I wish you the best, and God bless!
