Difficult tooth extraction?

3 days ago had 2 emergency extractions. Two of my teeth had abscessed and they had to remove them. The bottom tooth took almost 2 hours to remove. The dentist ended up drilling the tooth and taking it out root by root.The dentist put me on penicillin vk 500 mg 3x per day and 500mg Lortab for pain (i can't take NSAID pain relievers like motrin) I do not have a fever or face swelling and I don't have dry socket. However, I am still in extreme pain. The pain isn't responding to pain killers.I am doing my warm salt water rinses. but I am in agony. The dentist office is telling me it was a difficult extraction and there isn't anything wrong with the extraction sites. Has anyone else every had this problem? If so, what did you do for it? I haven't slept in 2 days!
