Honda Odyssey 1999 whining noise cold start?

can't have a flare on reverse the honda does not use frictions (clutches) for reverse it has a gear and fork that operate it only. sounds like the filter is partially clogged and possible culprit is the torque converter on the way out which is common for honda's. only way to replace filter in a honda is for trans to be pulled apart find a trans shop and have them take it for a ride.........if noise from power steering pump it will make noise when moving the s/wheel does it do that? solenoids could be bad but check engine light should be on l/solenoids are solenoids that operate the valves and for that trans must come out if valve stuck idle air control and anything else on the engine will give you harsh shifts and/or erratic shifts not slipping like i said won't cost anything for quick road test at trans shop find one at atra.com
