Is it damaging to my car to drive with an exhaust leak?

I understand the carbon monoxide dangers of exhaust wafting into the cabin. I will probably drive everywhere with the windows down so this isnt a problem. What I want to know is can this leak cause any other problems with the performance of my car? I have to get through a 2 hour drive home from college tonight and need to know if my car will make it.
