What kind of medications do they prescribe for a septoplasty?

I was told I will be given general anesthesia during the procedure. What type of anesthesia will I probably be given specifically? They said they will prescribe a narcotic painkiller. What kind will I most likely be prescribed? Will I also be given anything to reduce the swelling in my nose? I was told that removing the packing from my nostrils will probably hurt worse than the septoplasty. Why can't they give me anesthesia for that too then?
