Why won't my PS3 read WAV files?

i recently downloaded the "Java PS3 Media Server" and i wanted to go straight to my music i have to go through all of my folders to access it (music, iTunes etc.) but nothing is there. when i press triangle and copy it says there are no tracks to be copied. any help at all?
