A year holiday/working visa?

okay so me n my boyfriend are thinking about going over to australia and working there for a year, also have a bit of a holiday, see if we enjoy it, n if we do.. to hopefully move over perminantly. we know that we will need a holiday working visa...and about 7 thousand pound each to start us off, but a few questions like... how easy is it to get a job over there, we both have qualifications, and my boyfriend is dying to be a fireman, which is why he wants to go in the first place, to finally be doing his dream job, and also, how easy would it be to find a flat/house to rent as we dont have family living there, so we woud need one as soon as we got there... :\ so many questions are coming to my head
