Are there any new motherboards with alternative BIOS?

Such as dual BIOS for redundancy, OR No BIOS/some other type of IO system? I ask this because it seems like that's the one thing that hasn't truly changed in a computer. And with the innovation of our gaming systems, such as PS3 and Xbox 360(as well as PS2 and Xbox) with a visual boot I think it should be possible. The Xbox 360 has the BIOS contained within the CPU, I'm not so sure about the PS3, but I would like to see their boot styles applied to Computer mobo's. Anyway, any information would be helpful.
